    PRAXIS exams dates for the Fall and Winter 2008-09

    • July 27 (Registration deadline June 11, 2009)
    • September 14 (Registration deadline July TBA)
    • November 16 (Registration deadline October TBA)
    • January 11(Registration deadline November TBA)
    • March 15 (Registration deadline January TBA)
    • April 26 (Registration deadline March TBA)
    • June 14 (Registration deadline April TBA)

    Your registration application must be received by Educational Testing Service (ETS) by/on the registration deadline. You can obtained registration materials by going online and downloading them from the PRAXIS website or you can go to the site, <counsel.southern.edu>. Click on :
    1. Testing Services and then
    2. National Tests
    3. and then scroll down to PRAXIS, you can click directly on the PRAXIS title. Info is there.

    You will still need to pick up Sabbath Letters from Loree Fogg, secretary at the Counseling and Testing Center office located on the third floor of Lynn Wood Hall (Phone 423.236.2782).

    Keep in mind that it will take two, maybe three exam dates to complete all the necessary exams. You should begin taking the exams well in advance of your student teaching semester. All students planning to student teach in the Winter semester 2010, must complete all required PRAXIS II tests no later than the September 14, test date (Results from the November test date are returned on a much slower basis- at times up to a two month wait, delaying the beginning of student teaching and causing many problems).


    Admission to the Teacher Education Program

    After completing your first semester as a sophomore physical education major you should file the necessary paperwork to be admitted to the Teacher Education Program. The paperwork can be obtained from Dr. Benge or you can picked up the papers at the School of Education and Psychology main office.


    Admission to Student Teaching

    If you plan to student teach during the Winter 2010 semester you will need to file the necessary paperwork and be approved to student teach by the Teacher Education Council. The papers can be obtained from Dr. Benge or you can pick up the papers at the School of Education and Psychology main office.
